the zero waste lab: the nucleos of the ecosistem
Zero Waste Lab operates as a circular chain of local reuse and transformation. The community drops off materials at our recycling points; working recyclers sort, clean, and prepare the waste; the lab transforms it using low-cost technologies; and the resulting products are sold to businesses and citizens. This cycle strengthens the ecosystem and demonstrates that waste can generate environmental, social, and economic value.
La Casa Residuo Cero aims to be a platform that facilitates ongoing dialogue among artists, environmental stakeholders, and the public, fostering initiatives that integrate learning about “zero waste” as a way of life with artistic interventions. The goal is to transform this physical space into a functional art gallery, where everything is designed to inspire, evoke emotion, and promote ongoing transformation through art as a form of communication.
Our cultural and waste transformation lab is located in the Teusaquillo neighborhood of Bogotá. We have classrooms, a workshop with machines that process recycled plastic, an urban instrument-making workshop, and an upcycling art studio. We have a store featuring design products by various upcycling artists, books, posters, and waste collection points: eco-bricks or “little bottles of love,” plastic bottle caps, used oil, and electronic waste—as well as a recording and music production studio dedicated to protecting life.
In this space, we seek to unite Colombia’s environmental movement and promote the “Zero Waste” philosophy so that citizens, businesses, organizations, and working recyclers can work together to find solutions for transforming consumption habits and moving from rhetoric to everyday actions. We aim to make scientific information accessible to the public and walk together to be part of the change.

A temporary space for transformation of plastic waste
It is a solar-powered mobile laboratory that incorporates a waste-processing machine, a traveling store, and an artistic platform for participating in festivals, fairs, and public spaces. Its purpose is to introduce the circular economy to new audiences, demonstrate low-cost technologies, and connect new regions to the ecosystem.
